Band scholarship auditions will be held during the spring semester. Anyone wishing to audition should fill out this online scholarship application. Both incoming students and returning students need to fill out this application. Scholarships are granted to both music majors and non-music majors, so everyone has a chance to audition.
Auditions for incoming students will be held ON CAMPUS on January 31-February 1 and February 7-8. Auditions are scheduled through the online scholarship application.
Instrumental (Brass, Woodwinds)
1. Play two contrasting etudes (lyrical and technical) OR a Solo piece for your instrument.
2. Prepare all twelve major scales with arpeggios (two octaves when possible).
3. Sight-reading
Percussion
Perform a solo on the snare drum, timpani, and a mallet instrument.
Be prepared to play all twelve major scales (two octaves) including arpeggios.
Be prepared to play any of the 40 PAS rudiments on the snare drum (slow-fast-slow).
Sight Reading on the snare, timpani, and a mallet instrument.
OPTIONAL-Demonstrate a variety of styles on drum set (rock, funk, jazz, Latin, etc.).

ADMISSION INTO THE DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC – The band scholarship audition will serve as your audition for admission into the Department of Music if you plan to major in Music or Music Education.
